How to Be A Money-Saving Superman by Brushing your teeth
This first Stupid Simple Idea that you can do to save money, is to buy a decent toothbrush. A good toothbrush in my mind, is like Superman, it has lots of abilities and can replace other tools so you don't have to waste money on them. Here are the 5 ways your toothbrush can save the Earth, plus a bonus!:
Now, as a disclaimer, this toothbrush is not vegan-approved. I feel that using no plastic is less harmful to animals overall as the packaging and the toothbrush will be composted, rather than possibly ending up loose in the environment. There is also less use of crude oil, which is used to make plastic and fuel to ship it. Oil is a finite resource and carries more of an environmental impact, even from the recycling process. The toothbrush bristles are made from what would otherwise be a wasted resource (boar hairs from meat industry).
1. It's All Natural, (Including the packaging)

Your toothbrush's first ability is to save money by eliminating the need to throw it away. In order to do this, it has to be 100% all natural, in this case it's made from a wooden handle and a "waste" product of boar bristles. This means you don't have to pay for throwing it away and you can get more than one use or product from one purchase. You get a "disposable" product that won't pollute the environment, take up garbage space, or kill wildlife. Your toothbrush can come in all natural packaging without plastic either.
2. It's a Toothbrush!
A wooden toothbrush's second ability is that it can clean your teeth well. The bristles are all natural, so they break down as you use it. You can choose the roughness, by soaking for more or less time before brushing. This means you can buy in bulk for the whole family, and get multiple levels of roughness with the same product. This also means that you can use the same toothbrush for yourself and change how you use it each time.
3. It has Hygienic Vision!
Your toothbrush's third ability is to show you when it's clearly ready to move on to its next life by the end of 3 months. The plastic ones never seemed to look "ready" when you finished with them. This makes it more clearly hygienic than a plastic one, which makes you wonder if it is really that dirty.
4. It's a Scrubber!
After it gets used about 3 months, it will probably look something like the picture above. That means it's time for it to show its fourth ability as a free replacement for a handy-dandy scrubber. You will know when it's used up as nearly all of the bristles will be scrubbed off.
5. It's a Plant Marker!
Once the bristles are scrubbed off, it's ready to show it's fifth ability of being a free plant marker. Simply write the plant name on the toothbrush handle. Put the plant marker in the ground, bristle side down. It's ready to be used for as many seasons as it doesn't rot away.
No, it's Mulch!
Once the old toothbrush handle is rotted away, it's ready to sacrifice itself for the greater good as it shows off its last and most humble ability. This bonus ability is really what makes it stand out from its plastic counterpart. It's time to either break it up or shred it (along with other extra tree pruning scraps) with a wood chipper for mulch. Spread the mulch around your trees, shrubs, and other perennials that need to overwinter. As they slowly decompose, they protect the roots from the cold and create amazing compost for nourishing the plants.
Now you have 6 ways for your toothbrush to save the Earth!
