Save 1099% by switching to a quick and easy homemade glass cleaner. Just measure and add 3 ingredients to a bottle! To break it down, storebought glass cleaner costs $0.09 an oz= $1.44 for 16oz. Keep in mind that you're paying more for what is basically rubbing alcohol+vinegar.

How to make the Glass Cleaner

  • 2 cups of water (distilled or filtered is best so it doesn’t leave residue)

  • 2 tablespoons vinegar

  • 2 drops lemon essential oil (to help with streaking and the natural unevenness of mirrors/glass)

Mix together in a spray bottle. (These bottles are the ones we use.) If you have always used commercial window cleaner in the past, mix a couple drops of liquid castile soap or liquid dish soap in some of this mixture the first time you clean the windows to remove detergent residue.

Spray the glass cleaner and wipe with good old newsprint or those accursed Retail Me Not (formally Red Plum) junk mail. You can also use  "un-paper" towels.

Savings=$1.32 a bottle, 1 bottle every 2 months, save $7.92 per year. That is an over 1099% savings.
