This all-purpose cleaner is quick and easy to make and you probably have the ingredients on hand already. It only cost $0.18 a bottle and can save you $67.26 a year by switching to a more natural option.
When comparing DIY cleaners to storebought, I try to pick the most affordable option to compare homemade cleaners.
Lysol Multi-Purpose Cleaner=$0.26 an oz vs. DIY All-Purpose Cleaner=Cost less than $0.01 an oz ($0.18 a bottle)
DIY All-Purpose Cleaner
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp homemade dish soap
- 1 drop Lemon Essential Oil (anti-bacterial $0.04)
- 1 cups+ water
- spray bottle
Directions
Measure baking soda into a clean spray bottle. Add 1 cup of water and replace the lid. Shake like crazy until the baking soda dissolves, less than a minute.
Add dish soap and lemon essential oil, replace lid and gently swish in circles to combine. Do NOT shake like crazy, or your soap won’t mix until the bubbles have stopped. The mixture will be slightly cloudy at this point.
If there’s room in your bottle, you can fill up the rest of the bottle with water to the bottom of where the nozzle twists on. Add a label so you and your family can remember and use the best cleaner for the right need.
The cleaner separates over time, so gently swish to re-mix. Spray directly on the surface to be cleaned and wipe clean with cleaning cloths.
Yearly Savings
Commercial All-purpose cleaner 22 oz (one Lysol container) = All-purpose cleaner Savings=$5.60 a container, 1 container every month, $67.26 savings a year
As you can see, this all-purpose cleaner is quick and easy to make and you probably have the ingredients on hand already. It only cost $0.18 a bottle and can save you $67.26 a year by switching to a more natural option.

ReplyDeleteWe'd love to have you share - Have a GREAT day!
I was just pouring my "eco-friendly" all-purpose spray yesterday and thinking that the label cannot be right because it smells like chemicals. I'm ditching that bright green stuff and I'm going to try this out! LOVE these ingredients and I use them every day. I'll combine them now and try it out!
